The objective of the organisation is "to conduct research and generate action to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights, and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated."

International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that brings rescue to victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local officials to secure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators and to ensure that public justice systems - police, courts and laws - effectively protect the poor.

ASU Young Americans for Liberty is a non-partisan student political organization promoting economic and personal freedom, civil liberties, and individual rights.

The LGBT Center at Appalachian is a resource, referral, education and social center for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community and its allies.

ACT Out is a student lead service club on campus that organizes small service events on campus and in our local community.

The mission of the PeaceJam Foundation is to create young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities and the world through the inspiration of Nobel Peace Laureates who pass on the spirit, skills, and wisdom they embody.

ACT is Appalachian State University's clearinghouse for community service, service-learning, and community-based research opportunities within the NC High Country area, state, nation, and world.


ASU Wine to Water is a student club at Appalachian State University that strives to help Wine to Water provide clean water to people in need around the world.

ASCACA focuses on issues within the Criminal Justice System as a whole and helps educate our members and the public on how the Criminal Justice System works and how we can help make it better.

The chief purposes of the STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION OF APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY is to communicate the concerns of students to the university administration and to promote the general welfare of the student body.

Multicultural Student Development, provides marginalized and underrepresented students with mentoring, advocacy, community and identity affirmation; as well as by offering multiple and varied learning opportunities for all Appalachian students to develop an appreciation for diversity and different perspectives, enhance self-awareness, increase multicultural knowledge and strengthen intercultural competency.

Our mission is to abolish war, particularly as an instrument of U.S. policy, and to build a culture of peace through personal responsibility and witness, education, and promotion of human needs over militarism.

The Center was found in 2002 to develop new educational opportunities for students, teachers, and the community.  The Center seeks to strengthen tolerance, understanding, and remembrance by increasing the knowledge of Jewish culture and history, teaching the history and meaning of the Holocaust, and utilizing these experiences to explore peaceful avenues for human improvement.

​​A​ppalachian Educators for Social Justice (AESJ) strives educate its member and our campus community about injustices that exist in our society, which sometimes go unnoticed.
